I often wonder which dating sites are the largest. So recently, I did a bit of research to find out, and it looks like not much has changed over the last few years. Here are the top dating sites by monthly visits, according to eBizMBA:
- Match.com (35 million)
- PlentyofFish (23 million)
- Zoosk (11.5 million)
- OkCupid (10.1 million)
- eHarmony (7.1 million)
- Badoo (6 million)
- Christian Mingle (5.5 million)
- OurTime (3.5 million)
- DateHookup (3 million)
- BlackPeopleMeet (1.2 million)
Sure, there are some new names on the list I didn’t see 5 years ago, but the top 5 are all familiar names. I was not familiar with Badoo, and it turns out this social media site is actually bigger in European countries and that’s probably why. I can understand Christian Mingle and OurTime making the list, since they are very heavily promoted on TV. One thing I noticed was that Chemistry.com is no longer on the top 10. It turns out they only get about 500,000 visitors a month.
So where should a potential online dater start? Well, having tried some of the free dating sites like PlentyofFish and OkCupid, I can tell you they are not worth your time. I’d instead start with the popular paid dating sites on the list, such as Match.com, Zoosk, and eHarmony. In the case of Match.com, you can actually get a trial at various online dating review sites and coupon sites such as Couponleaf.com. This will allow you to try Match.com for 3 days free. Other dating sites offer free trials on occasion as well, so make sure you do a quick search on Google to see if you can find any promotions you can take advantage of.
