Benefits of Lemon Juice

Recently, I’ve been reading a lot about the benefits of lemon juice. I always take health claims with a grain of salt. After all, nothing can substitute a healthy diet that ensures you get all your essential vitamins and other nutrients (I like to buy my vitamins online using vitamin coupons). But based on anecdotal evidence online, it seems that some of the benefits of lemon juice are real. Here are some benefits I see mentioned often:

  • It can aid digestion
  • It flushes out toxins in your body
  • It cleanses your liver
  • It can reduce acne, both if you drink it or apply it topically
  • It can alleviate depression
  • It can help you lose weight
  • It balances the PH in your body
  • It reduces inflammation
  • It can help you recover from a cold more quickly

It sure sounds like some magic cure-all potion, so I decided to give it a try. I bought lemon juice from a store and put 2 tablespoons into a glass of water and began drinking it every morning. I did notice two things within the first week. One is that it does indeed seem to visibly reduce acne, and that is impressive because acne can be such a stubborn problem to address for many people. Second is that it has a calming effect, and I can therefore see why it might help with anxiety or depression in some people.

Now for the bad. Lemon juice can erode your tooth enamel. That’s why I choose to dilute mine in 6 to 8 ounces of water. In addition, I drink the lemon juice through a straw, and rinse my mouth afterwards. I encourage you to take the same precautions if you decide to drink lemon juice every morning.

Drinking lemon juice is cheap and easy to do, so for me, it’s worth it to have some every day. Other easy things you can do to improve your health is take a good multi-vitamin daily. I like to purchase mine from Pureformulas, but quite frankly, there are plenty of terrific vitamin stores on the Web. If price is an issue, you may want to stick to stores that offer coupons. You can currently view all Pureformulas coupons here.

Remember, no one thing will ensure good health, and to be healthy, you need to do a combination of many things like, exercising, taking vitamins, and eating healthy. Nevertheless, I hope this article was helpful and will assist you in developing a routine that ensures maximum health for you and your family.
